Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii: A Blend of Serious Drama and Comedic Mayhem
RGG Studio promises a unique blend of intense drama and over-the-top humor in their upcoming title, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. This latest installment features a "more serious" Goro Majima, according to director Masayoshi Yokoyama, particularly at the story's outset.
However, the signature Like a Dragon humor isn't entirely absent. Producer Ryosuke Horii emphasizes a core "manly drama" focusing on Majima's pursuit of his goals and the bonds he forges along the way. While acknowledging the game's comedic detours, Horii highlights the central narrative of a passionate man on a remarkable journey. He also points out Majima's unique qualities, distinct from series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu, making him an ideal lead for this reality-bending adventure. The development team aimed for a balance between pirate themes, Majima's personality, and the overall Like a Dragon essence, striving for varied, engaging action.
The game promises a thrilling mix of realism and extravagance, avoiding predictability by incorporating wilder gameplay elements while maintaining a strong dramatic core.
Majima's Maji Festival: A Japanese Celebration
To celebrate the game's launch, RGG Studio is hosting Majima's Maji Festival in six Japanese cities. The tour, which began in Sapporo on December 1st, 2024, concludes with events in Nagoya (January 18th) and Tokyo (January 25th).
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, starring the iconic "Mad Dog of Shimano," offers action-packed combat, thrilling naval battles, a vibrant cast, and a compelling story, promising a unique modern-day pirate adventure.
