SoMoGa Inc. has released a modernized version of Vay for Android, iOS, and Steam. Vay, a classic 16-bit RPG, returns with enhanced graphics, a redesigned interface, and controller support.
Originally launched in Japan in 1993 on the Sega CD, Vay was developed by Hertz and localized for the US by Working Designs. SoMoGa kept the game's spirit alive with a 2008 iOS re-release.
What's New in the Revamped Vay?
This updated Vay features over 100 enemies, a dozen formidable bosses, and exploration across 90 diverse areas. A standout feature is its adjustable difficulty levels.
The revamped version includes an auto-save function and Bluetooth controller support. Players can acquire new equipment and items, learn new spells as characters level up, and utilize an AI system for autonomous character combat.
The Story:
The game unfolds in a distant galaxy scarred by a millennium-long interstellar war. A colossal, malfunctioning machine crashed into the technologically underdeveloped planet Vay, causing widespread destruction.
Players embark on a quest to rescue their abducted wife and potentially save the world. Their peaceful kingdom is attacked on their wedding day, leading to an epic journey to thwart the war machines.
Vay's narrative is captivating, blending nostalgic charm with modern elements. True to its JRPG roots, characters gain experience and gold through random encounters. The game boasts nearly ten minutes of animated cutscenes with English and Japanese audio options.
